Google announced that Display campaigns are transitioning into Demand Gen, where advertisers can still serve exclusively on GDN. A migration tool appears in Google Ads from June 2026, new standalone Display campaign creation ends later in 2026, and remaining eligible campaigns are auto-migrated with the transition expected to complete by 2027.
Google cites a 9.5% average ROI increase when GDN is added to Demand Gen. Demand Gen brings carousel ads, expanded video formats, lookalikes, generative image tools and channel-level reporting to former Display advertisers. Google Ads Editor 2.13 added 'classic display assets' support for Demand Gen image ads to help the migration.
