Ads began appearing inside Google AI Mode responses in the US

Industry observers documented text ads serving inside AI Mode answers, including for local service queries, marking the start of a broader rollout of ads in Google's conversational search experience. Ads are drawn from existing Search (broad match and AI Max), Shopping and Performance Max campaigns.

Google had said at Google Marketing Live in May 2025 that it was testing ads in AI Mode in the US; PPC Land dated the first observed AI Mode ads to November 21, 2025.
